A beautiful purple and white agate point formed by a rounded column which show off the banded swirls on the sides. A very unusual specimen that is almost quartz like but is actually agate with a inclusions. A definite one of a kind specimen for your collection.
Composed of silicon dioxide, it has a glassy (vitreous) lustre and often appears in brooches and pins. Its acid resistance makes it ideal for crafting mortars and pestles used to press and blend chemicals.
Agates typically form in molten rock cavities, where gas bubbles in solidifying lava give way to alkali and silica-bearing solutions. These stones develop as banded nodules, resembling tree rings—known as Riband Agate.
In Wales, agate connects to Ceridwen, the goddess of death and fertility, ruler of the west, water, and autumn. She embodies magic and reigns as the queen of witches.
