Description

This is one of a pair increasingly rare Dulcote agate specimens. Since the quarry closed in 2007, getting quality specimens is getting more difficult.

Also known as Potato agate, it is found in the area in and around the Dulcote Quarry, near Wells in Somerset. Unlike many agates which are formed through volcanic activity, Dulcote is formed through the cavities in the rock being filled over time with silica-rich water which crystallise, forming bands or layers of unusual colours and textures.

All agates are believed to possess metaphysical properties especially grounding, stability, and balance.
