There is a lot of incorrect information on the internet confusing Zebra Stone, Zebra Agate, Brown Zebra Jasper. Zebra rock is a completely different stone altogether.

This distinctive reddish-brown and white-banded sedimentary rock found in the Ord River of  Kimberley of Western Australia is called ‘zebra rock’.  which formed during the late Precambrian (around 670 million years ago). Zebra rock is comprised mainly of small particles of quartz and ‘sericite’ (fine-grained white mica), iron oxide (hematite) and the minerals kaolinite, dickite and alunite.

Zebra rock has been used largely as an ornamental stone for carvings, some costume jewellery, inlays, paper weights and figurines.

The stone’s unsurpassed natural beauty typifies the colour and spirit of Australia, and some have said the stone has a special quality bringing luck.

Tiger’s eye is a golden to red-brown stone of quartz. Tiger’s eye gain their silky, lustrous appearance from the quartz crystals and altered amphibole fibres that have mostly turned into limonite. Found in Australia, Myanmar, India, Namibia, South Africa and the USA.

Thought to be a symbol of protection, strength, confidence, bravery and good fortune, Roman soldiers wore this stone on their breastplates when they went to battle for protection. They believed the stone would give them the strength and patience of an actual tiger. The gem was also worn as protection keeping, the wearer safe against curses.

The Ancient Egyptians believed the stone held the power of the midday sun. Pharaohs and the elite wore jewellery crafted from Tiger’s Eye believing it would give them power, vitality and strength. They saw the stone as an ‘all-seeing eye’ and for the statues of gods eyes and placed in the tombs of pharaohs to help them to navigate the afterlife.

Tiger’s Eye stones were placed in doorways to encourage a protective energy. They can also be placed in rooms where decisions are made, for good fortune. Parents also place them in the bedrooms of their children to enhance self-confidence, bravery and willpower. Tiger’s Eye stones are believed to keep people on the right path, ensuring they make good decisions.

Tiger Eye activates the solar plexus chakra. When we open and engage our second brain, known as our gut, we are able to display a true array of emotions and qualities. If we allow ourselves to focus, our possibilities will become limitless and know no bounds. Opportunities and new beginnings will attach to you like a magnet when working this stone. It is up to you as to whether or not you would like to take advantage of what the universe is offering. This ever-loving energy is always actively expanding our consciousness and seeking to push us onto a higher path. Tiger Eye is a small tool that grants us the intuition to follow by feel and not by thought.

Unakite is a semiprecious stone. of granite, pink feldspar, green epidote and clear quartz most common colours are mottled pink and green which vary from stone to stone. True unakite must have pink granite inclusions, otherwise it is classed as epidosite.

Named after the Unaka mountain range in Tennessee where it was discovered in 1874 by Mr. Bradley. It is mined in South Africa, Brazil, and China and along the shores of Lake Superior in Minnesota.

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. has Unakite front steps and floor tiles in its south entrance.

The stone is believed to be a healing crystal by its ability to build healthy relationships via the green (nurturing energy) and pink (compassion and love) inclusions. Epidote (a Unakites mineral) is derived from the Greek word epidosis, meaning “growing together.” Its solid bond helps you to form the same bonds and build your life with patience and sensitivity.

This stone is connected to the Heart Chakra to help us regulate our emotions and remain balanced in both our personal and professional lives. The heart connection aids a deeper understanding of our emotional body. Meditating with this stone will help push out “dead weight” feelings we carry with us which have no positive purpose in your heart occupying space. Unakite can help you push through hardships and the emotional pain allowing you to find inner peace. It is a powerful transformation talisman that will strengthen your heart and bridge the gap to where new opportunities await.
